Newletter # 1 - Jan.-June 2004

Dear friends, This is the 1st Tony Scott newsletter. It is addressed to all the people that wish to be updated about musical happenings in his life. Tony's 83rd birthday is just around the corner. Things happening in the musical world of a giant personality and a living legend like Tony Scott could be more exceptional, but often little things are nevertheless very special and precious. The magical moments, the friendly relations created between everybody involved and the resulting artistic qualities are of inestimable value in Tony's career. This special issued - being the first one and reporting events from the first part of this year through June is exceptionally extensive ; all following newsletters will be published monthly. The newsletter includes information about Tony Scott's discographic releases as an effort to resolve the expected obstacles that go with finding his records through the normal marketplace.

January 15, 2004: Rome, Italy - Concert Festival "Rassegna di Musica Afro Americana’. a- Beba Do Samba Club - h. 21 - Via dei Messapi 8 b- 306° Club - h. 23 - Via DEgli Equi 57 Tony Scott is invited for an unusual solo-appearance at the 4 weeks festival organized by Marco Micini at the young cultural area in Rome ' S.Lorenzo': Tony Scott had a solo-night for a one-man-show to under-tone speak about his memories and music followed by his explosive performance as special guest of George Garzone Quartet for three magic and magnetic standards.

January 19, 2004 - h.21: Roma, Italy - Concert Teatro Politeama Brancaccio Memorial Concert ‘Martin Luther King, a movement called liberty' Tony Scott is special guest -on clarinet alone - with his own song "I want To Be So Free – Requiem for M. Jan- Feb. 2004: Holland - Magazine Article De Klarinet # 30 - pag. 16, 17, 19 " Groeterdetoet uit Rome" by Jos Valster This cover and the extensive article is dedicated to an orange-dressed Tony Scott playing clarinet at his new house - and music center. March 15, 2004 - Milano, Italy - Interview Tony Scott & Giancarlo Barigozzi The Italian flutist Giancarlo Barigozzi, met Tony at first and played with in Hong Kong in 1961 . He was also the owner of the historical 'Barigozzi' recording studio in Milano where Tony, accompained by the musical spirits of it's wall, recorded almost 30 years. April 6 to 11, 2004: Rome, Italy Clarinet Master Class at Tony Scott Music Center An amazing experience 6 days 24hours full immersion on studying, improvising, recording, speaking with clarinet master Tony Scott. "the time I spent with Tony was invaluable and that he has helped to re-inspire both me and my playing. " He told me that when he plays he always thinks of Bird.....I will now always think of Tony so lets hope this helps to keep the Jazz flowing !" - Richie Hayward (London)

May 2004: Italy - Magazine Article Jazz Magazine # 18 - pig. 20, 21, 22, 23 " Tony Scott, il nomade visionario " by Enzo Pavoni Article speaks about Tony Scott and his surreal and visionary talent. May 18, 2004 : Rome, Italy - Recording at Tony Scott Music Center Massimo D'Avola Quartet Tenor saxophonist Massimo D'Avola used Tony Scott home studio to record - under Tony Scott 's winds- a demo-CD to present for 'Europe Jazz Contest' concourse in Bruxells - September 2004: Leonardo Borghi (p), Giuseppe Talone (b), Nicola Angelucci (d). "The magic atmosphere of Tony's house, the music that you can breath in the music room and the presence of Tony Scott, helped me to realize this recording, feeling encouraged by the spirit of the most great master I had in my life." - Massimo D'Avola

May 20, 2004: Rome, Italy - Concert La Palma Club, h. 22 Tony Scott is the guest clarinetist of Italian talented pianist Luca Iacovella's last CD: Luca Ruggero Iacovella "Heart Of Europe" At the CD-presentation's concert, the audience enjoy Tony Scott playing his clarinet on the song " The Jump" - who Luca Iacovella wrote for him - and on a 'bis' song "Autumn leaves". June 3, 2004: Italy Tony Scott & Mario Rusca Trio: The Old Lion Roars Tony Scott added a special musical gift for the 2004 re-issued of the same titled 1996 CD. New cover style and new exhaustive liner notes and interviews. The new two added songs were recorded in March 11, 2004 at Mondial studio in Milano: 1) - Song for Tony (by Mario Rusca ) dedicated to Tony Scott, a special duo with Tony Scott(cl), Mario Rusca, (p) 2) - Lady Day ( by Tony Scott) Tony Scott at the piano overdubbing in a low deep voice his lyrics.
