" I'm absolutely delighted with
this album.
When I listened to it again after such a long lapse of time, I
said, 'Hey, is that me?
I'm playing like a monster!
I think it is one of the best records I ever made." - Tony
Scott
Rune Ofwerman recalls:
"Tony had come to Stockholm to
appear at the Nalen and I was lucky enough to be invited to play
with him.
We didn't know each other,
but he knew I had played with Lucky Thompson, Stan Getz and Don
Byas.
On the second week of the engagement,
he told me that RCA had asked him to do a record date and asked
if I would like to be on the session. I was delighted - and a
little bit astonished, because there were players like Bengt Halberg
and Jan Johansson available."
..."Tony really
made me play - he opened my ears. I had different approach to
the piano after working with him. And because of this session,
I got a recording contract from RCA and made my first album for
them, Gavern, in December 1957" (From CD liner notes)
